The International Folklore Film Festival (IFFF), established in 2017 in Thrissur, Kerala, has grown into one of India's premier cultural film festivals dedicated to folklore and heritage-based storytelling. Now in its 9th edition, IFFF 2026 continues to celebrate the richness of global traditions through cinema.
This year, the festival featured over 400 films from 88 countries, showcasing a wide spectrum of narratives rooted in cultural identity, tradition, and human expression. As India's only hybrid folklore film festival, IFFF combines physical screenings with a global digital platform in collaboration with indieGo OTT, expanding its reach to audiences worldwide.
The festival emphasizes the evolution of folklore into contemporary "folk cinema," bridging traditional storytelling with modern cinematic language. Through international competition and audience participation, IFFF fosters cultural exchange and keeps the spirit of folklore alive in a rapidly changing world.
