Synopsis
The project follows Sun Fengming, a Taoist from Tiger Street Village, Yunnan. Eighteen years ago, her only daughter showed "evil possession" symptoms after having a second child. Short on money but desperate to help, Sun secretly learned Taoism to cure her.Today, Sun is a respected village Taoist who performs rituals and draws talismans, helping neighbors with conditions unaddressed by Western or traditional Chinese medicine. Beyond Taoism and family, she leads a dance team, performs at festivals, shops at the town market, and helps at her daughter’s car wash—blending the solemnity of faith with daily warmth.The documentary uses a plain, sincere lens to show her roles as Taoist, villager, and mother, highlighting an ordinary person’s tenacious vitality amid life’s hardships.
