Synopsis
“Daughters of old Shiraz” is a documentary that follows a group of young women in the historic district of Shiraz as they join architects, engineers, and local residents in restoring their endangered neighborhood. When authorities announce plans to demolish the area, the girls launch a grassroots campaign, gathering signatures and mobilizing the community to protect this cultural heritage. Despite challenges and resistance, their collective effort succeeds in achieving national heritage registration and stopping the demolition. The film is not only about preservation—it highlights the determination, social awareness, and power of young Iranian women standing against unjust urban decisions.
