Synopsis
In a village on the brink of destruction, a young girl sets out on a journey to save her world. Her story reveals the wounds of her village —abandoned quarters, poisoned earth, and memories etched into crumbling walls. Travelling through landscapes shifting from familiar to strange, she searches for a guardian deity said to protect her home. Finally she meets the deity who listens as she shares the tragic story of her people and their fading village, begging for his help. Blending 3D and 2D sequences, Antha: The Dying City is a meditative, visual story about loss, resilience, and the fragile bond between humans and the places they call home. Inspired by the decaying beauty of Civita di Bagnoregio and the real-life issue of soil contamination in Zaanstad, the film asks a simple question: When the ground beneath us is dying, will we care enough to save it?
