Synopsis
"One Man and the Last Kiln" follows Jothimani, a 51-year-old artisan who has devoted his life to making bricks by hand. Alone for most of the year, he digs clay, moulds, dries, and fires each brick in his centuries-old kiln, occasionally hiring two helpers. Surviving on simple meals like old kanji, and scavenging broken wood from the river, Jothimani keeps an ancient tradition alive in an era where machines dominate. This 88-minute documentary is an intimate portrait of endurance, dignity, and disappearing rural craftsmanship.
